good Friday

This good Friday has been slower than we are used to.  Not the normal patterns of church services to prepare for.  It's been quiet.  Most things are closed here.  Everyone is off of work.  We've been outside.  Went up the port hills.  I read in bed, which never happens during the day.  We've shared dinner with friends.

I've been thinking today about how amazing this day is.  Our God who came to earth, lived among us and then died (and rose from the dead) for our redemption.

I've been thinking of the story of Hosea this week.  The story of his wife leaving again and again, giving herself to other men, taking care of children that probably weren't his own.  Hosea went after her, though, again and again...pursuing her love.

And this is the story of our God and us.  He comes after us, in passionate pursuit.  He can not hold back.  He gives us everything.  It is his kindness that leads us to repentance.

Thankful for the righteousness we receive through faith because of what we celebrate this weekend.

"We are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ." (Romans 3:24)

  1. Hey there Jamie, Just a quick note to say thank you! Following your lead, I took the bull by the horns and went next door to introduce myself to our new next door neighbours. I took some fruit from our garden and said hello. It was a bit of a stilted conversation, but baby steps... you've got to start somewhere!
Wishing you a very Happy Easter.
